Heating Oil Contracts

From time to time, Cernak Fuel offers a variety of different Heating Oil Contracts. These Contracts will vary from year to year and are optional;   Cernak Fuel continues to sell heating oil, off contract, at our competitive posted market prices.

In general, Budget Contracts become available during late spring or summer.  Prepaid Contracts are available, on and off, throughout the year.

Fixed Price Contract offers expire when supplies are sold out.

•   Fixed Priced Prepaid:
  • Customers lock in a price and prepay for their purchase of heating oil for the upcoming heating season.
  • You decide how many gallons to purchase, (there is a 500 gallon minimum requirement).
  • The Contract is priced at a fixed price per gallon, offered at time of Contract purchase, times the number of gallons purchased.
  • Payment is due within ten days of the Contract order date.
  • Oil is delivered on an automatic "keep full" basis.
  • The advantage?
  • You would know the price per gallon for oil purchased on this Contract.
  • You could save significant money if the price of oil goes up during the heating season.
  • One seasonal payment is easier then making payments for each delivery.
  • The disadvantage?
  • You would be required to take delivery of the contracted oil purchased, at the contracted price, even if the price of off-contract oil goes down during the heating season.
  • The Contract has to be paid, in full, by the deadline.
  • No refunds.  End of season credit balances get rolled into future deliveries or contracts.

•   Fixed Priced Budget:
  • Customers lock in a price and get a payment schedule for their purchase of heating oil for the upcoming heating season.
  • You decide how many gallons to purchase, (there is a 500 gallon minimum requirement).
  • The Contract would expire on May 15.
  • The Contract is priced at the fixed price per gallon, offered at time of Contract purchase, times the number of gallons purchased.
  • Payments are due by the 10th of each month stated on the Contract.
  • Oil is delivered on an automatic "keep full" basis.
  • The advantage?
  • You would know the price per gallon for oil purchased on this Contract.
  • You could save significant money if the price of oil goes up during the heating season.
  • Payment is made monthly.  Unlike the Prepaid Contracts, the Budget would allow you to spread out your payments.
  • The disadvantage?
  • You would be required to take delivery of the contracted oil purchased, at the contracted price, even if the price of off-contract oil goes down during the heating season.
  • Penalties apply for late payment.
  • No refunds.  End of season credit balances get rolled into future deliveries or contracts.

•   Variable Priced Prepaid Contract:
  • Customers prepay for their purchase of heating oil for the upcoming heating season.
  • You decide how many gallons to contract for.
  • The Contract is priced at an estimated price per gallon, estimated at time of Contract purchase, times the number of gallons purchased.
  • Payment is due, for the entire estimated season's heating oil cost, by the payment deadline.
  • Oil is priced at our competitive posted market price per gallon, offered at time of delivery, less a sizable discount.
  • The Contract expires when all gallons are delivered, prepaid monies are used, or on May 15, whichever comes first.
  • The advantage?
  • The additional discount off the posted market price is a sizable savings throughout the season.
  • One seasonal payment is easier then making payments for each delivery.
  • The disadvantage?
  • The Contract has to be paid, in full, by the deadline.
  • Additional money may be due if the actual price of oil exceeds the estimated price of oil.
  • No refunds.  End of season credit balances get rolled into future deliveries or contracts.

•   Variable Priced Budget Contract:
  • Customers get a payment schedule for their purchase of heating oil for the upcoming heating season.
  • You decide how many gallons to contract for.
  • The Contract would expire on May 15.
  • The Contract is priced at an estimated price per gallon, estimated at time of Contract purchase, times the number of gallons purchased.
  • Payments are due by the 10th of each month stated on the Contract.
  • Oil is priced at our competitive posted market price per gallon, offered at time of delivery, less a $.10 per gallon discount, as long as budget payments are prompt.
  • The Contract expires when all gallons are delivered, or on May 15, whichever comes first.
  • The advantage?
  • Payment is made monthly. Unlike the Prepaid Contracts, the Budget would allow you to spread out your payments.
  • The $.10 discount off the posted market price per gallon is a savings throughout the season.
  • The disadvantage?
  • If estimated gallons are short, you would owe the monthly budget payment, plus the overage.
  • Additional money may be due if the actual price of oil exceeds the estimated price of oil.
  • No refunds.  End of season credit balances get rolled into future deliveries or contracts.
